My dearly loved Mo “Bunny” came into my life at 13 years of age, sadly passing at 16 years of age. After the loss of another pet 14 years ago I felt I never wanted to endure the loss of another companion ever again. I steeled myself against loving another pet but through circumstance Bunny entered my life.

“It was impossible to not attach to you Bunny. Your docile nature, your patience, unwavering affection and love saw me grow to love you so very much. For the last 8 months, every night you slept in my arms, precious memories you have given me. As your health deteriorated you must have despised me at times for needing to space out giving you 7 tablets each day, but I made sure each day you had special treats, lots of brushing and cuddles, always under my watchful eye. I look out into my yard, where each day I followed the afternoon sun, moving you on your mat, your magic carpet as we called it, around the yard into the sunshine. As shade fell I transferred you to your indoor bed, with your heated blanket, while I prepared my meal, eating dinner at the same time as you, for some reason you had decided this ritual. Our nights progressed with my often needing to increase the sound of the TV to hear, over your loud purring, as you snuggled up close. It’s so quiet without you, I miss your contented purring. It is that purring in my arms, during your final hour at the vet before going to sleep, that comforts me, you passed feeling loved. I look for you every minute of the day, my heart is truly broken but you showed me that love has no boundaries, you can’t avoid it, it is like a planted seed that with the right conditions grows into a beautiful, strong tree. On the 27th July, when Pets in Peace bring you home, you will be with me again, surrounded by your photos and memorabilia, where each day I can cherish the beautiful memories of you that I will carry throughout my life. Through this sadness so many photographs are reminding me of your many quirky ways, they bring a smile to my face through this difficult time”.
